Scottish music

"An album of unassuming but inevitable class."

The duo Roß and Popp is not new, but their way with the Folk music of Scotland is. They cautiously mixed Classical elements, Rock and Pop into the Highland Folklore and kept solid distance to the rough and rowdy songs of the genre to begin with. Jochen Roß, a master of the mandolin in the following of Nigel Gatherer, and Jens-Uwe Popp on a variety of guitars, supported by the outstanding stand up bass player Guido Jäger, the renowned Moroccan percussionist Rhani Krija and further helpers they tailored new garments for ten older and younger Scottish melodies, and they did it with love. Now they sound as fresh as if unheard before, yet somewhat familiar because timelessly beautiful. To top things off, three tunes are crowned by the voice of Canadian singer Lisa Winn. An album of unassuming but inevitable class.
